Our food supply is among the safest in the world, however people still get food borne illnesses. For this reason food businesses and producers are required to follow safe food handling practices. These guidelines ensure that the food is kept safe to eat from time of purchased until it is served. The Food Safety & Nutrition Branch at SA Health works together with other government agencies and local councils to ensure that food for sale in SA is safe and correctly labelled.
